This test will see an alert message sent to mobile phones in the area.
This alert is a test, and there is no need to panic, and no need to contact the emergency services.
An actual test was sent out last week to the people of Madrid for the first time, a situation that was criticised by some, including politicians, as scaremongering, as it mentioned a threat to life on account of the weather. Tragically, some people did die, and so these alert systems are becoming more important.
If you are in the Barcelona area, you may receive the alert today, but remember, on this occasion, it is just a test.
