Metal fragments warning in tofu brand

A new food safety alert has been published, warning of the risk of the presence of metallic remains in a brand of Tofu from Germany, of the Taifun brand, warning that if you have this product at home, don’t eat it.

The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN OA) has been informed by the European Food Alert Network (RASFF) of an alert communicated by the German authorities and motivated by the presence of metal fragments in a tofu. Tofu, also known as “vegan cheese”, is a food that is prepared from soybeans, and is usually eaten alone, or as an ingredient in salads or stews.

The alert has been triggered by detecting the presence of metal fragments in the Tofu Spinacia product, which is why it is withdrawn from the market.

This problem could have been caused by a failure in the manufacturing process, packaging, etc., but the fact is that its consumption can be dangerous.

The affected product is Tofu Spinacia of the Taifun brand, a packaged product that is sold refrigerated.

The lots affected by the presence of metallic remains are:

lot 254 (with expiration date June 2, 2023) and

lot 274 (expiration date June 22, 2023).

This vegetarian product of German origin has been distributed in Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, Cantabria, Catalonia, Castilla y León, the Valencian Community, Extremadura, Galicia, Madrid and the Basque Country.

The alert has been communicated to verify the withdrawal from the market of the affected products, but it could be that some consumers have them at home: if so, do not consume it, as the presence of these remains can be very harmful.
