The Volkswagen plant in Navarra is closed today, as announced to the works council, due to a lack of parts.
“With the information available at the time of writing this notice, there will be no production next Monday the 22nd due to instability in the supply of semiconductors,” the company has indicated in a note sent to the staff.
“The day will be considered ERTE, except for people who are explicitly notified by their headquarters to work or receive training,” the management has reiterated.
The factory has been closed for 16 days since January and with this latest announcement, it will now be 17. During those days, no vehicles have been produced, so manufacturing will be stepped up in the future, the company says, with voluntary Saturdays, among other measures.
