Officers from the National Police arrested six people in the provinces of Madrid, Malaga, the Balearic Islands, Guadalajara, Valencia and Pontevedra for distributing child pornography.
The operation has been carried out by agents who are experts in the fight against cybercrime who have had the close collaboration and participation of the US HSI, Homeland Security Investigations. Six home searches have been carried out in which electronic and storage devices have been seized, as well as photographic material and documentation.
The investigation began in 2020 when the agents received information, from the Embassy of the United States of America in Spain, regarding the alleged commission of various crimes of distribution and possession of child sexual exploitation material, through a well-known and important social network in Spain.
Thanks to the content of various complaints received through the Cybertip of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Minors (NCMEC) of the United States, agents of the National Police specialised in the fight against cybercrime managed to locate, in different parts of the Spanish geography, six people allegedly involved in sharing child pornography content through a messaging application.
The agents carried out the arrests of these six people and searched their respective homes in the provinces of Madrid, Malaga, the Balearic Islands, Guadalajara, Valencia and Pontevedra. There, five laptops, 10 mobile phones, 19 storage devices, four cameras as well as photographic material and documentation were seized.
At the detainee’s registered address in the Balearic Islands, a multitude of computer equipment was seized, storing a large quantity of images of child sexual exploitation, children’s costumes and boys’ and girls’ underwear, as well as abundant documentation. During the investigation it was found that the arrested person shared files with other individuals through messaging applications on the web, making it possible to identify and arrest another of those involved in the province of Madrid.
