Immigration document group arrested

The Guardia Civil arrested three people of Romanian, Spanish and Moroccan nationalities, belonging to a criminal organisation dedicated to the falsification of public documents, crimes against public health and illegal possession of weapons.

The investigation began in February 2022 when a shipment to Turkey suspected of containing inside, camouflaged in a double bottom, an original and authentic passport of the Kingdom of Spain with all its blank pages, was detected.

As it is a country that receives migrants from Syria, whose entry into Europe occurs through the so-called eastern Mediterranean route, thereby favouring irregular immigration, investigations were launched to identify the sender of said shipment.

As a result of the investigation, a group of people was detected who were perfectly organised, with different functions within the organisation itself, with the ability to get clients, prepare and distribute counterfeit documents (identity documents of various nationalities, residence cards, driver’s licence, vehicle technical inspection cards, etc.), using specific material such as printers, plastic supports, heat-sealing machines, and watermarks.

For all these reasons, at the beginning of January, three entries and searches were made at homes in the province of Toledo and Madrid, proceeding to the intervention of 1 specific printer for the preparation of identity documents and forged driving licences, numerous plastic supports, with and without watermarks, for printing the documents, several heat-sealing machines to laminate them once they are made, already forged identification documents, passport-size photographs of various individuals to be implemented in the identification documents, various stamps and recipes medical drugs to counterfeit, narcotic substances (5 kg of hashish), glass, cocaine and tusi, and a precision scale; plus 1 shotgun with erased serial number.

Finally, the three members of this criminal organisation were arrested for the alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organisation, falsification of public documents, against public health and illegal possession of weapons.

The operation has been carried out by the Information Group of the Madrid Command, Citizen Security Unit and Cynological Service (dogs), in coordination with agents of the Information Headquarters (UCE3).

The detainees have been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court number 2 of Alcobendas (Madrid).
