Five people were injured on Sunday, to varying degrees, due to a rockfall on the A-395 road that gives access to Sierra Nevada, in the province of Granada. Several vehicles traveling on the road were affected in the incident.
As reported by the General Directorate of Traffic, the landslide forced the total closure of the road at kilometre 16, as it passes through the municipality of Güejar Sierra.
Emergencies 112 Andalucía has indicated that the road cut occurred at 12:16 p.m. this Sunday and that it affects both directions, causing traffic queues whilst the Guardia Civil diverted vehicles through alternative routes.
The five victims were evacuated by the health services to the San Cecilio Hospital.
The emergency services warned drivers to exercise extreme caution in the area and to follow the instructions of the operatives who are working in the location at all times.
The images disseminated through social networks show several vehicles, including a van, with damage due to a landslide.
