Health Minister shares the keys to the vaccination campaign in Spain with the director general of the WHO

The Minister of Health, Carolina Darias, held a bilateral meeting with the Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, with whom she shared, among other matters, the keys to the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Spain and the donation of more than 70 million doses to third countries.

This meeting is part of the parallel agenda of the 75th World Health Assembly to be held in Geneva from May 22 to 28. An assembly that revolves around the concept ‘Health for peace, Peace for health’.

Dr. Tedros congratulated Spain for the “excellent” vaccination coverage that has been achieved in the country and thanked Spain for its support in the fight against COVID-19 with initiatives such as the release of the serological antibody test patent for covid-19 developed by the CISC, the first to be carried out within the scope of the C-TAP initiative.

In addition, the Director General of the WHO has highlighted Spain’s leadership in solidarity donations to reach the goal of 70% of the world’s population vaccinated and support in the development of global health governance instruments.
