800,000 pyrotechnic devices seized over Christmas

The Guardia Civil has ended their Christmas campaign in relation to the control in the use and commercialisation of pyrotechnic products, withdrawing from the market a number close to 800,000 units, among which are bomblets, impact thunders, rockets, and firecrackers.

Specialists in weapons and explosives, with the support of other units of the Guardia Civil, have carried out nearly 600 inspections in establishments for the sale or distribution of pyrotechnic articles, and more than 60 infractions have been reported.

The main objective of the action is to control the unauthorised sale of this type of product and avoid accidents from improper use.

The Guardia Civil carries out these inspections throughout the year, intensifying these controls on certain dates such as Christmas.
