RUSSIA ANNOUNCES THAT CLINICAL TRIALS OF ITS CORONAVIRUS VACCINE HAVE BEEN "SUCCESSFUL"

The Russian Defence Ministry has announced the successful conclusion of the clinical testing phase of a coronavirus vaccine conducted in conjunction with the Gamaleya National Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology.

“On the morning of July 20, a second group of volunteers was discharged,” Defence said in a statement, stating that the clinical tests were carried out in Moscow at the Burdenko Central Military Hospital.

According to the press release, “The results of the analyses unequivocally show that all volunteers developed an immune response as a result of the vaccine.”

Meanwhile on Monday the coronavirus pandemic has registered in the last 24 hours in Russia 5,940 cases and 85 deaths, which brings the balance to more than 777,000 infected people and more than 12,000 fatalities, according to the Russian centre responsible for the fight against the virus.

“In the last 24 hours in Russia, 5,940 new cases of coronaviruses were confirmed in 85 regions, including 1,556 asymptomatic,” the Russian body reported in a statement collected by the Russian news agency Sputnik.
